MS Civil Construction began operating in the Waikato in December 2017.
While the company is new, the people are not!

Carl Saywell, Director and founder of MS Civil Construction, has built a team of highly skilled and experienced individuals MS Civil Construction has grown quickly in the thriving Waikato environment, delivering work this year including:

  • Local council carpark and accessway upgrades
  • State highway pavement work
  • Farm access tracks and drain clearing
  • Drainage and culvert installation
  • General cartage
  • Footpath construction and much more.

MEET THE TEAM

Carl Saywell

Managing director/owner

Carl has a vast range of skills within the civil engineering industry. He has worked in both New Zealand and Vanuatu managing surfacing and construction projects. He has worked on maintenance contracts in Asset Management and Operational Delivery, as well as design. Carl managed the largest EMOGPA project on the Cambridge Expressway, Carl has come from an operating background and had learnt from the bottom up.

Callum Caldwell

Project manager

Callum has a vast range of skills within the civil engineering industry. Having worked within the Siteworks and Civil industry or over 7 years he has a keen eye for detail and a focus on ensuring the project is delivered on time, on spec and on budget. He has experience delivering multimillion-dollar siteworks projects throughout Waikato.

TOM SUTCLIFFE

Project manager

Tom has worked within the Civil Engineering industry for over 15 years. He has managed a vast array of projects ranging from Earthworks, drainage and pavement renewals programmes in the Waikato region. Tom understand what management style is required for specific applications. Commitment to project success and public reflections shows in all projects he carries out and providing time sensitive results to the highest of standards is always his key objective.

SHEREE EASTERBROOK

Contracts Administrator

Sheree is the Contracts Administrator, she is able to liaise professionally whether it is with clients, Council, subcontractors or members of the community to ensure everything runs efficiently. She understands the importance of positive public relations from her previous roles as an Administrator for the past 15 years. Sheree is able to work under pressure; she has excellent time management and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively.

Donald Liddall

Foreman

Donald has over eleven years’ experience in the roading industry, with three years as lab tech, and seven years as a stabilizing operator in the South Island from doing everything from running crews to pricing, operating on the job, and invoicing. Donald has been a foreman for 8 years and is a great addition to the team with his hard work and can-do attitude.

Dale Verstappen

Project Manager

Dale has excellent experience in quality which has been enhanced by his extensive Project Management experience from over 7 years in the construction industry. Quality is key to Dale to ensure that all materials and construction are to the highest standard he consistently assesses where he can provide improvements into systems to determine a best for contract solution for all parties.

Carolyn Gardner

Surfacing Manager

Introducing Carolyn, a seasoned leader in the road surfacing industry with a proven track record of delivering results. With years of experience under her belt, Carolyn has honed her skills in asphalt paving, chipsealing, cost management, planning, and quality management. She is a graduate of NZIHT and has a strong background in manufacturing and surfacing technical support.

Scott is a highly skilled and experienced Drainage Foreman with over 10 years in this role, and an overall 14 years in the construction industry. Scott has a wealth of knowledge in the management and installation of all 3 waters, delivering a number of complex and high-profile contracts.

Koria Inu

Chipseal Foreman

Koria has in excess of 4yrs industry experience in particular managing the operations of a chip seal team. Koria is passionate about providing our clients and roads users with a quality value for money outcome. She works tirelessly to ensure to ensure that we are well planned, our personnel are proficient in their tasks, operate our plant to maximise efficiency and achieve a quality surface with no defects. Koria’s experience, passion and drive to deliver excellence is a key attribute which has ensured that we have successfully delivered many resurfacing projects in the time she has been with us.
