MS Civil Construction began operating in the Waikato in December 2017.
While the company is new, the people are not!

Carl Saywell, Director and founder of MS Civil Construction, has built a team of highly skilled and experienced individuals MS Civil Construction has grown quickly in the thriving Waikato environment, delivering work this year including:

  • Local council carpark and accessway upgrades
  • State highway pavement work
  • Farm access tracks and drain clearing
  • Drainage and culvert installation
  • General cartage
  • Footpath construction and much more.

MEET THE TEAM

Carl Saywell

Managing director/owner

Carl has a vast range of skills within the civil engineering industry. He has worked in both New Zealand and Vanuatu managing surfacing and construction projects. He has worked on maintenance contracts in Asset Management and Operational Delivery, as well as design. Carl managed the largest EMOGPA project on the Cambridge Expressway, Carl has come from an operating background and had learnt from the bottom up.

Callum Caldwell

Project manager

Callum has a vast range of skills within the civil engineering industry. Having worked within the Siteworks and Civil industry or over 7 years he has a keen eye for detail and a focus on ensuring the project is delivered on time, on spec and on budget. He has experience delivering multimillion-dollar siteworks projects throughout Waikato.

TOM SUTCLIFFE

Project manager

Tom has worked within the Civil Engineering industry for over 15 years. He has managed a vast array of projects ranging from Earthworks, drainage and pavement renewals programmes in the Waikato region. Tom understand what management style is required for specific applications. Commitment to project success and public reflections shows in all projects he carries out and providing time sensitive results to the highest of standards is always his key objective.

Rebecca Steiner

Administrator

Rebecca has learnt on the job the role of Administrator, she enjoys a challenge and performs well under pressure. Her high level of organizational skills, high attention to detail and willingness to give everything a go has helped our teams succeed, as well as being very task driven makes her a great asset to our team.

SHEREE EASTERBROOK

CONTRACTS ADMINISTARTOR

Sheree is the Contract Administrator, she is able to liaise professionally whether it is with clients, Council, subcontractors or members of the community to ensure everything runs efficiently. She understands the importance of positive public relations from her previous roles as an Administrator for the past 15 years. Sheree is able to work under pressure; she has excellent time management and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively.

Nick Crawford

Mechanic

Nick is a qualified diesel mechanic and is new to the civil engineering industry. He was brought up and worked on a family farm in Queensland, Australia and worked with a vast range of agricultural equipment. He brings a great skillset to the team with his mechanical knowledge, problem-solving skills and previous experience in parts sales. Nick loves a challenge and strives on learning new things

SHAUN TUFFERY

Supervisor

Shaun has 6 years’ experience in supervisory and quality roles on Civil Construction projects in the Waikato region and 10 years’ experience in the building industry as a qualified builder. He has a vast range of skills within the Civil Engineering industry including supervising a 2.7km Cycleway and several State Highway Projects.

Dene rowland

Foreman

Dene has over twelve years in the construction industry, with a skill-set ranging from plant operator to supervisor. He has an extensive knowledge of pavement surfacing having spent ten years working with asphalt, including treatment selection, specialist mix design and application. Dene has led crews from the front and is an excellent field supervisor.

Donald Liddall

Foreman

Donald has over eleven years’ experience in the roading industry, with three years as lab tech, and seven years as a stabilizing operator in the South Island from doing everything from running crews to pricing, operating on the job, and invoicing. Donald has been a foreman for 8 years and is a great addition to the team with his hard work and can-do attitude.

EION GRIFFIN

Foreman

Eion has 20 years of Earthworks experience from rural to civil Earthworks, through to house sites and demolition. He is multi skilled operator working with a lot of earthmoving machinery and prides himself on a high standard of delivery and client satisfaction. Eion has been an operating Foreman for the last 4 years, with his abilities and knowledge he has gained in his career in Earthworks makes it hassle free knowing that the job undertaking will done in confidence and with great workmen ship to get the best result in all areas.

RORY ATKINSON

Foreman

Rory has worked in the Civil Engineer Industry for 18 years, with experience driving diggers to having 10+ years carrying out drainage works in the Waikato. Rory is a very valuable asset to our team, he takes everything onboard efficiently and has been offered many opportunities throughout his career for his hard work and enthusiasm.
